Ms. Kennedy's 5th Grade Class 2022-2023

Welcome to 5th Grade!  I am excited to meet each of you and get to know you better over the coming weeks!  

 

Monday, August 7th is a two-hour day.  Students with their parents may report to class to meet me, pick up materials, and are then welcome to go ahead and dismiss for the day.

 

Tuesday, August 8th is the first full day for students.  

 

I am looking forward to a great school year teaching your child and working with you.  Fifth grade is an important year.  Not only is our curriculum difficult, we are preparing our students for the transition to middle school.  If this is your child's first year at Barfield, I highly suggest you attend the New-to-Barfield Orientation on Thursday, August 10th, at 6:30.  Thursday, August 17th, at 6:30, the school will hold Parent Orientation for grades 1-5. This is a great time for you to ask any questions you might have and for us to get to know one another better.

Welcome to my page!  
 
This is my 25th year teaching 5th grade at Barfield Elementary School.  I team with Mrs. Sanders, and I teach math to both of our homerooms.  I will also be teaching my homeroom science and social studies.
 
I am a native of Franklin County, TN and graduated from MTSU in 1990.  I am a mom to two adult sons.  I enjoy reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
 
I love teaching 5th graders!  They are now the "big kids" in the school, but they are still young enough to enjoy playing on the playground and laughing with their teacher.  My mission is to help all students gain confidence in school and to help prepare them for the responsibilities and choices that come along with middle school and beyond.
