Principal's Pen

When I see buttercups and tulips peeping up from the ground I know that spring can’t be far behind! It’s unbelievable that we have only three months of this school year left. These remaining months will be filled with events and dates that offer much learning and excitement for our students and our school community.

Thank you for your generous support of the fundraisers that occur at Barfield to benefit charitable agencies such as American Heart Association’s “Jump Rope for Heart” that provides great physical activity for our students and “Books from Birth.” Through our students’ efforts and your donations we will raise funds to help provide free books for Tennessee’s preschoolers. It is likely that your own children have benefitted from this early literacy program. A letter explaining this charitable fundraiser will be coming home soon.

Speaking of preschoolers, don’t forget “Child Find,” Rutherford County Schools’ free screening day for children birth to age 5 who have not yet started to school on Sat., 3/18/17, 8:00-3:00, at Barfield.

Did you know that on Wed., Mar. 8th, ALL STUDENTS & Staff will be able to get breakfast for FREE?! That’s right; it’s National School Breakfast Week, so if your child would like to take advantage of this tasty opportunity, just make sure that they arrive at school before 8:00 that day. Remember that our gym doors open at 7:15 each day.

Has your family moved to a new residence? If so, please make sure that your child’s teacher AND the office have your new address. If you have moved out of the Barfield School zone, please let your child’s teacher know so you can complete a zone exemption and when approved by me, your child will be allowed the opportunity to finish out the school year at Barfield.

Happy Spring! Judy Goodwin, Principal
