When our Barfield students and our school community take on a task, they always give it their very best.  Our annual Jump Rope for Heart campaign to raise funds for the American Heart Association is a clear example of the giving spirit shown by our families when YOU helped to raise over $15,000 for this cause! Thank you to each of you and to Mrs. Kate Melton and Ms. Kaye Wrather for coordinating this event and for encouraging our students to make exercise a lifelong activity. It is anticipated that this huge contribution will lead all schools in Rutherford County and also earn a very high rank among contributors in the state of Tennessee!

As always, when we have a fundraising campaign of any kind, whether for our school or a charity, participate only if your family’s budget allows a donation to be given. Being a good role model for being financially responsible supports the development of a lifelong skill that our children need.
Important reminder:  Don’t forget to take advantage of the opportunity for your child age 3-5 to be screened FREE of charge during “Child Find” on Sat., Mar. 3, 2018, 8:30-2:30, at Barfield Elementary School.  No appointment is necessary.  While our preschool at Barfield has been designed primarily for students with developmental delays, three typically developing four-year-old children are selected each year to serve as models for the class. In order for your child to be considered as a typical peer, they must be screened on this date. Even if you do not wish to be considered for the preschool, you can bring your child in for the brief screening and receive valuable information about your child’s development.

Thank you to Mr. Dean Higbee and Southbranch Nursery for volunteering to renovate our butterfly garden landscape in front of the cafeteria and to provide free mulch for this area.  What a difference this has made! We appreciate Dean and others in our community who so faithfully have supported and continue to support our school in so many different ways.

     Spring is on its way!
